Lord, give up! Madam has too many vests

Chapter 326

Chapter 326

Shen Yunzhong stood in the center of the police station lobby, impeccably dressed in a suit, exuding an aura of authority that commanded respect without anger.

He sneered, his sharp gaze piercing Yan Lan like a knife: "Yan Lan, don't think I don't know what you've been up to behind the scenes."

His voice was extremely low, yet every word carried a warning: "That document from the foreign website is the evidence you provided to the police."

He squinted, re-examining the seemingly frail woman before him.

He once thought Yan Lan was just a pretty face attached to the Qin family, but now he was shocked to discover that she could accurately obtain top-secret information from the prison network and even had irrefutable evidence of Liu Jinnian's bounty order.

"Yan Lan!" Liu Yuli suddenly rushed forward, "For the sake of your long-standing relationship with Jin Nian, let him go this time!"

Her swollen eyes gleamed with madness. The lawyer's words echoed in her mind: if Yan Lan changed her mind, there was still a chance for things to turn around.

Yan Lan withdrew her hand expressionlessly; red marks had already appeared on her fair wrist.

"The evidence is conclusive that a hitman was hired."

Her voice was calm, yet it chilled the entire hall to the bone: "The law will deliver a just verdict."

"Yan Lan, do you have to be so heartless?"

Liu Shiyu suddenly rushed forward, her delicate face contorted in anger.

"So what if my brother dumped you? Is this how you retaliate?"

She raised her hand to shove Yan Lan's protruding belly.

"How dare you!" Qin Shengsheng stepped in front of Yan Lan and shoved Liu Shiyu away forcefully.

"Try touching my sister-in-law again!"

Liu Shiyu staggered back a few steps, but Song Chi caught her in time.

He frowned and said, "Sheng Sheng, Shi Yu is still your sister, why..."

"Shut up!" Qin Shengsheng sneered. "I only have one older brother."

Shen Yunzhong gestured for the others to stop arguing.

"Yan Lan, always leave yourself a way out. If something happens to Bai Xiaoyu's baby... do you think the assassins from Prison Network might succeed again?"

The air solidified instantly.

Yan Lan looked up and remained silent for a long while.

Seeing her reaction, Shen Yunzhong felt smug, thinking that Yan Lan had already given in.

"Mr. Shen's reminder is quite good."

Yan Lan nodded.

"In that case, what about the evidence you provided to the police earlier..."

Uncle Shen Yunzhong was a police officer in the basic teaching materials.

Qin Shengsheng looked at her sister-in-law warily. Her sister-in-law wouldn't really...

Yan Lan calmly took a document out of her bag and handed it to the police officer beside her.

"This is a complete record of Liu Jinnian's interactions with the prison network, including payment receipts and server logs."

She paused, then took out a voice recorder. "Also, I recorded Shen Yunzhong's threat just now."

Shen Yunzhong's expression changed drastically, and he suddenly reached out to snatch the recording pen from Yan Lan's hand.

"Mr. Shen!"

Situ Qing shouted to stop him, and two police officers immediately stepped forward to block him.

Liu Yuli collapsed to the ground, hysterically screaming, "Jin Nian is finished... completely finished!"

"Yan Lan!" Shen Yunzhong's temples bulged with veins, his voice forced out through clenched teeth, "You think this is over? You have no idea who you've messed with!"

Yan Lan calmly straightened her clothes: "I understand perfectly well."

She looked toward the interrogation room.

Just then, the interrogation room door opened.

A police officer strode over: "Ms. Yan, the suspect requests to see you."

Yan Lan frowned slightly. Liu Jinnian wanted to see her?

Qin Shengsheng looked at Yan Lan with concern.

"It's okay, this is the police station."

Yan Lan decided to meet with Liu Jinnian to see what he had to say.

Yan Lan walked into the small meeting room.

Under the pale light of the meeting room, Liu Jinnian slumped into an iron chair.

He, who was once full of vigor, now seems to have lost all his energy. His eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses are bloodshot, and the dark stubble on his chin makes him look particularly haggard.

The gleaming handcuffs on his wrists were a stark contrast to his former self.

He stared at Yan Lan's protruding belly and suddenly gave a twisted smile.

Yan Lan simply gazed at him calmly.

"Who instructed you to issue the bounty?"

Yan Lan got straight to the point.

Last chance

Inside the meeting room, the stark white light made Liu Jinnian's haggard face appear even paler. He lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously tracing the edge of the handcuffs, the cold touch of the metal making him tremble slightly.

Yan Lan stared at him silently, her gaze sharp as a knife. She knew this man all too well—the senior who had organized her notes in the university library, the elite who strategized and commanded business negotiations. Liu Jinnian might stop at nothing for profit, but he was definitely not a desperate criminal who would hire someone to commit murder.

“Jin Nian,” she suddenly spoke, her voice soft, yet it made Liu Jin Nian jerk up, “All these years, I know you.” She looked directly into his eyes, “There must be someone behind you, isn’t there?”

Liu Jinnian's pupils suddenly contracted, his Adam's apple bobbed, but he said nothing.

"This is your last chance." Yan Lan leaned forward, tapping her fingers lightly on the table. "Tell me who the mastermind is, and you'll have a chance for a lighter sentence."

The meeting room was eerily quiet; even breathing could be heard clearly. Liu Jinnian's gaze flickered, shifting between Yan Lan and the one-way mirror. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, finally managing only a bitter laugh: "Yan Lan, you're too naive..."

"Naive?" Yan Lan sneered. "You think I'm negotiating with you?"

She took a document out of her bag and pushed it in front of him. "This is the complete chain of evidence the police have, including all your activity logs on the prison network. You thought deleting your browsing history would make you foolproof?"

Liu Jinnian's face turned deathly pale instantly, and his fingers trembled involuntarily.

He stared intently at the document, as if it were some terrifying monster.

“Now,” Yan Lan’s voice suddenly softened, “tell me the truth. Not for me, but for yourself.”

Liu Jinnian's shoulders suddenly slumped, as if all his strength had been drained away.

He lowered his head, his voice so low it was almost inaudible: "If I tell...they'll kill me..."

“Whether you speak or not,” Yan Lan calmly pointed out, “the law will still judge you. But if you speak, at least the police can protect you.”

The sunlight from outside the window filtered through the blinds, casting mottled shadows between the two of them.

Liu Jinnian raised his head, his eyes flashing with struggle. Just as he was about to speak, there was a sudden knock on the door of the meeting room—three knocks, very light, but they made Liu Jinnian tremble, and the light in his eyes instantly went out.

"Time's up." He slumped back in his chair, his expression returning to its blank state. "You can go now."

Yan Lan gave him a deep look, then got up and left. Just as the door closed, she heard Liu Jinnian whisper almost inaudibly, "Be careful."

The door closed behind me, shutting out all sound.

In the corridor, Yan Lan leaned against the wall and took a deep breath.

Suddenly, footsteps came from ahead. Yan Lan looked up and saw Yan Xue and Si Chu walking towards her.
