Chapter 375 The Bride of the Sea God (34)
Ten minutes later, Asaya sat curled up in the sidecar of a three-wheeled motorcycle, looking utterly dejectedly at Yan Zhen riding the motorcycle and Nolan sitting behind him wearing a helmet—
Nolan gets carsick, so Yan Zhen abandons the car and chooses to travel by motorcycle.
They're both fish, and he was injured, yet these two didn't care about his life or death at all.
Yan Zhen was stopped twice by traffic police on the road because of overloading, and was only released after paying a fine.
Upon arriving at Si Lan's house, Yan Zhen went in first and turned off the surveillance cameras.
When she secretly disconnected the network and walked to the spot where the fish tank was, she saw Asaya standing in front of the display case, staring blankly at Mia, who was soaking in a glass bottle.
Yan Zhen watched his retreating figure.
Asaya came to Si Lan's house at the end of last year. He stayed in the fish tank every day, looking at his sister's eyes that had been gouged out and made into specimens in the display case. No one knows how he managed to suppress his hatred and anger and not kill Si Lan at night.
Yan Zhen sighed softly, walked over, picked up the glass bottle, and put it into his bag in front of Asaya.
Upon seeing this, Asaya immediately asked, "What are you trying to do?"
"We will send Mia back to the ocean," Yan Zhen said. "Not only her eyes, but also her skeleton displayed in the Ocean Museum. After legislation is enacted to protect mermaids, I will send her remains back to the sea."
Nolan had told her that when a mermaid dies of natural causes, its family holds a simple farewell ceremony and watches its body sink into the depths of the ocean.
For merfolk, death is not the end.
The remains that sink to the seabed nourish the creatures that live there. The dead mermaids are simply in a different form, coexisting forever with the ocean on which they depend for survival.
Asaya remained silent for a while, took the glass bottle from Yan Zhen's hand, and walked out without saying a word.
Realizing that he wanted to personally send Mia's eyes back into the sea, Yan Zhen immediately followed.
They rode their motorcycles to the dock, and it was already dark. One person and two fish boarded the yacht owned by Si Lan.
An hour and a half later, the yacht was anchored on the sea. Asaya went to the deck, took off his clothes and transformed into a fish tail. With Mia's eyes in hand, he jumped into the sea and quickly disappeared into the vast night.
Yan Zhen didn't know how far he swam or where he took Mia's eyes. She and Nolan sat on the deck and waited all night until the sky began to lighten before Asaya returned to the yacht.
He climbed to the stern of the yacht, sat on the deck, his tail fin submerged in the seawater, and stared blankly at the calm surface of the sea.
Yan Zhen walked over and sat down next to him: "Leave the rest to me. You don't have to stay in the human world. Go back whenever you want."
He infiltrated Si Lan's side to ensure the plan's success, but now that the plan has been completely altered, there's no longer any need for him to stay by Si Lan's side.
It took Asaya a while to speak: "If I leave, Si Lan will become suspicious."
"I'll find a reason to cover it up," Yan Zhen said. "It won't affect our plans."
As soon as she finished speaking, the bodyguard in charge of driving the yacht came out of the inner cabin, holding a satellite phone: "Miss, the eldest young lady is looking for you."
Yan Zhen took the phone and turned on speakerphone: "Hello, sister."
Si Lan's exasperated voice rang out: "You brat, where did you put my fish?"
Yan Zhen glanced at Asaya, her tone full of naive ignorance: "Nolan was bored, so I brought Asaya over to keep him company... Oh, by the way, sister, I accidentally broke the glass bottle in your collection cabinet that holds mermaid eyes."
Si Lan seemed to be taken aback for a moment, then said, "If it's broken, it's broken. We can just replace it with a new glass bottle."
"But I accidentally stepped on and broke the mermaid's eye..."
Upon hearing this, Si Lan immediately asked, "Are you injured?"
"No, I've already removed the mermaid eyes... You're not angry, are you?"
"It's good that he's alright." After saying that, Si Lan couldn't help but scold, "Why did you have to touch the collection cabinet if you were bored? You wasteful thing! Is Asaya with you now? I'll go pick him up."
"Yes, but I'm not home."
Si Lan immediately became alert: "Where are you?"
“I brought Nolan to the beach to swim, and Asaya was there too.”
Before she could finish speaking, Si Lan let out a sharp, explosive shout: "You took Asaya to the beach? What's the difference between that and releasing him?! Immediately! Right now! Bring him back!!! If he runs away, I won't let you off the hook."
Yan Zhen did not answer Si Lan's question immediately, but looked at Asaya.
Asaya frowned slightly, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes.
He knew this was the last chance Si Xia was giving him.
Stay in the human world, or return to the ocean.
"Si Xia! Did you hear me? Bring him back right now!" Si Lan on the other end of the phone was furious and continued to shout, "Are you even hearing what I'm saying?!"
"Answer me, what happened?"
"Tell me the truth, did Asaya run away?"
Asya listened to the noisy voice and made a decision—he took the satellite phone from Yan Zhen's hand and said, "No."
Upon hearing his voice, Si Lan was startled, then erupted in fury: "Asia, come back right now!!!"
"Understood," Asya said, and hung up the phone.
He decided to stay in the human world, so Yan Zhen stopped trying to persuade him and got up to return to the inner cabin.
At this point, Asaya asked, "Can my sister's remains... really be recovered?"
Yan Zhen paused, then gave a definite answer: "Yes."
When the yacht returned to Shengjing, Yan Zhen saw Si Lan, dressed in a white suit and high heels, standing aggressively at the dock waiting for her as soon as she stepped off the deck.
She involuntarily shrank her neck.
After disembarking from the yacht, Si Lan first checked on Asaya's condition to make sure he was alright, then grabbed Yan Zhen's ear: "You brat, have I been too lenient with you?! Huh! You actually dared to set your sights on my fish..."
Yan Zhen cried out "Ouch, ouch, ouch!" several times, complaining, "Asaya is back now, and even if he had run away, I could just buy you another A-grade mermaid as compensation, right?"
"Do you think Grade A mermaids are like cabbages at the market? You can't just buy them whenever you want!"
“A-level is rare, but it’s not nonexistent.” Yan Zhen probed her attitude. “Sister, Nolan and Asaya have reconciled. They are good friends now. They even went swimming together today. Give Asaya to me. I will take good care of him.”
"No way." Si Lan remained unyielding.
"Can't I even buy you another A-grade mermaid?"
"No, there's no room for negotiation on this—let's go home!" Si Lan said, then turned and walked towards the parking lot as if she was worried that her sister would forcibly take Asaya away.
After walking a few steps, seeing that Asya hadn't followed, her expression darkened slightly. She turned back to him, grabbed the electronic collar around his neck, and dragged him away.
