NBA's King of Talking

Chapter 437 The 2th MVP

Chapter 437 The 2th MVP

While Olynyk may have been a dirty player, his technical skills are actually very well-suited to modern basketball. As a center, he can facilitate the offense, excelling in pick-and-rolls and various cuts, and possesses a high basketball IQ. He has decent low-post skills, with good finishing touches around the rim, and can finish easy baskets. His biggest selling point is his excellent shooting ability; he can shoot three-pointers and mid-range shots, making him highly valuable tactically.

On the defensive end, Olynyk is 7 feet tall and heavy enough to defend big centers. He also has decent speed and good defensive awareness, making him a fairly average player.

As for his weaknesses, Olynyk can't be a primary scorer, or even a secondary scorer. He's a support player, a jack-of-all-trades, a smart player, and an excellent role player, nothing more. Besides not being able to be a primary or secondary scorer, his rim protection and shot-blocking are mediocre. As a white center, he's not physically imposing, his durability is average, and his attendance rate is very low.

"From what I understand, the Celtics aren't very keen on re-signing Kelly. They don't plan to trade Al Horford. Kelly's current market value is just over $1000 million, and he's looking for a multi-year contract, which is why the Celtics aren't willing to re-sign him," the Logo Man said.

Jia Fei nodded. That was indeed the case. Ainge was a shrewd old fox; he wouldn't easily offer Olynyk a big contract. They already had Horford at center, and extending Olynyk's contract with a multi-million dollar annual salary would be a huge challenge to the team's salary cap.

“Kelly is a good fit!” Jia Fei nodded. He really thought so. Olynyk was born in 1991, only 26 this year. Giving him a long-term contract until he's 30 would be his peak. A salary of around 10 million a year is acceptable; he's flexible, easy to trade even if he doesn't perform well, and doesn't take up too much salary cap space even if he keeps the money. With the current salary cap rising significantly, a 10 million annual salary is basically not much different from what the middle class used to be.

“The Celtics might make a qualifying offer to Kelly. If they don’t re-sign him and he becomes a free agent, we can then offer him a contract.” The man with the logo was also happy that Jia Fei agreed with his suggestion.

"Yes, thank you for all this. By the way, how's the news about De'Andre?" Jia Fei asked.

“De Andre’s market value isn’t very good…” Logo Man said with some helplessness. “His value dropped quite a bit after the playoffs last season. He has two years left on his contract, and there aren’t many teams with cap space who are willing to acquire him.”

"If all else fails, we can try to bring in three parties or something. If we can get some good players who can contribute immediately, we can also offer draft picks!" Jia Fei said.

"Okay, I'll take care of it!" the man with the logo said.

There were no communication barriers with the guy in the logo; he's incredibly smart and knows exactly how to run a team. Ballmer's decision to bring him on board was absolutely brilliant!

After the draft, Jia Fei and Art Mayok went to Kemba Walker's house in New York, where the group of friends had a good get-together.

On June 27, the NBA awards ceremony was held at Basketball City Park in Port 36, Manhattan, New York.

Prior to the 2016-17 season, the NBA would announce the winners of various awards, All-NBA teams, and NBA All-Defensive teams after the regular season and during the playoffs, and then hold separate press conferences and award ceremonies for the winners of each individual award.

In the 2014-15 season, the Players Association pioneered the concept of a grand awards ceremony. In addition to the league's selection of awards, the Players Association also had players vote to select the winners of various awards, culminating in a grand awards ceremony at the end of the season, attended by many star players. Then, in the 2016-17 season, the league decided to reform, aiming to make the NBA awards ceremony a prestigious event.

First, the league has decided to postpone announcing the awards results until after the regular season, instead keeping the suspense until after the Finals, revealing them all at the awards ceremony. Second, the awards ceremony will be a star-studded event, inviting numerous players, coaches, executives, legends, and well-known celebrities.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by renowned Canadian artist Drake, and will be attended by a star-studded lineup. Additionally, famous singer Nicki Minaj will perform during the ceremony.

As for the guests, in addition to the nominated current basketball stars, Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O'Neal, Bill Russell, and others will also attend the ceremony.

Jia Fei, a candidate for the regular season MVP, attended the league's inaugural awards ceremony. He wore a black and dark red suit with black sunglasses, exuding an outstanding and striking presence.

Fellow MVP candidates, Jia Fei's former teammates Russell Westbrook and James Harden, were also in attendance. Westbrook, a fashion icon, dressed more formally today, but still couldn't hide his somewhat sleazy demeanor; Harden, as always, never seems to get a trim, and is increasingly resembling Osama bin Laden…

Art Mayork, Kemba Walker, Lamb, Beverley, and other family and friends of Jia Fei attended the awards ceremony.

Before this, there were rumors that Jia Fei would win the MVP award, and he was a strong contender for the award. He himself was also very confident, after all, his regular season individual statistics (including advanced stats), combined with the team's record and the storyline, made him the best. His only disadvantage was that he had already won the MVP award.

The results were announced, and Jia Fei defeated his former teammates Harden and Westbrook to win his second regular season MVP award!

Jia Fei, who won the award, went on stage to accept the award, and then he took off his glasses to give his acceptance speech.

"Before this season, many people had forgotten that I was once the league MVP. I was sidelined for the entire season, and many thought I was just a flash in the pan, my peak so short-lived! But I came back. Many thought I was afraid to go to the Western Conference, so I changed teams. I went to the West, and I grew with my new team, helping them break the franchise record for regular season performance. This MVP award wouldn't have been possible without the trust of the management, the help of the coaching staff, and the support of my teammates. I shouldn't be considered a flash in the pan; I will be even stronger in the future!" Jia Fei said.

The audience erupted in applause, with Art Mayor applauding the loudest.

Other awards were then presented: Draymond Green of the Warriors won the Defensive Player of the Year award, James Harden of the Rockets won the Sixth Man of the Year award, Giannis Antetokounmpo won the Most Improved Player award, and Bill Russell won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jia Fei has been selected for the All-Defensive First Team!

This marks his third All-Defensive Team selection in his career. Notably, his teammate Beverley was selected for the Second Team.

Without a doubt, Jia Fei was the biggest winner of this year's awards ceremony. He not only won the Most Valuable Player award, but was also selected to the All-Defensive First Team. In addition to the previously announced All-Defensive First Team selection, he is an MVP and an All-Defensive First Team member this season, second only to the 2014-15 season in terms of awards.
