Nirvana Heiress: Reborn and Returning to Stir Up a Storm

Chapter 579 Undercurrent Counterattack

Chapter 579 Undercurrent Counterattack

Eight o'clock in the morning, at the headquarters of the Lin Group.

The spacious shareholders' meeting hall was brightly lit, almost blindingly so. On either side of the conference table sat more than twenty core shareholders, all the true decision-makers behind the Lin family. Each person held a neatly arranged folder, the sound of pages turning like waves.

Lin Chuyue stood at the head of the table, dressed in a sharply tailored dark gray suit, her makeup restrained, her aura cold and stern. Behind her stood Gu Yanchuan, Luo Zhen, and Shen Yanyan, like three solid shields. Even before the meeting began, an unease permeated the air.

Her gaze swept across the crowd, finally settling on Lin Zhengguo. That was her father, who was now sitting near the opposing side—next to Cheng Yi and two neutral elders.

I. Pre-meeting exchanges

“Chuyue, your attitude is too forceful. Not everyone likes to ‘dream about the past’,” said Li Guonian, a shareholder in his sixties, frowning.

“Chairman Li, today we’re not going to revisit old issues, but rather the core issue of whether the ‘Vision Fund’ is currently suspected of fraud.” Lin Chuyue said calmly, “If you’ve read the report I sent to you, you should know that the ‘people-led construction’ system in Lin Yun’s hands actually benefits her and a few fake trustees.”

She patted the multimedia presentation board beside her, "We have verified that the 'special fund allocation rights' mentioned in Articles 8, 11, and 13 of the 'Fund Articles of Association' all point to three shell companies under the CR Group. This is an open trap to drain shareholders' funds."

Shen Yan interjected at the opportune moment: "We already have a list of nine trustees in our hands. Three of them are Lin Yun's private secretaries, and two are former subordinates of Cheng Yi Foundation—this is not openness, but internal control."

Cheng Yi's expression changed slightly: "Ms. Lin, shouldn't the China Securities Regulatory Commission or the Public Security Bureau be involved to make these claims more credible? We are operating a legal fund model, yet you use conspiracy theories to deny it?"

Lin Chuyue didn't back down: "The people from the China Securities Regulatory Commission are already downstairs at the group's building. I'm just giving you a chance to admit your mistake in advance."

The entire audience erupted in uproar. Some whispered amongst themselves, while others' faces paled.

Lin Zhengguo couldn't help but stand up: "Enough! Chuyue, do you really want to drag the entire Lin family into a double vortex of public opinion and the judiciary?"

Lin Chuyue looked at him slowly: "I am dragging you into a trap. Father, you once said that I am the pride of the Lin family, but now? You stand against me, supporting Lin Yun and not hesitating to cover up the truth."

“I have never covered it up—” Lin Zhengguo was interrupted.

"You have misled the shareholders' trust, allowed Lin Yun to win over the old guard, met with Cheng Yi in private, and even approved her fundraising announcement!" Lin Chuyue said coldly. "You are no longer suitable to serve on the company's strategy committee."

"You want to dismiss me?" Lin Zhengguo's expression changed drastically.

Lin Chuyue nodded slowly: "This is the first topic."

The conference room fell into a deathly silence.

II. Voting and Wavering

"If anyone believes that Mr. Lin Zhengguo has seriously deviated from the company's governance direction and that his kinship may pose significant decision-making risks, please raise your hands to vote on whether to recommend that he temporarily recuse himself from core company affairs pending the conclusion of the internal investigation," Gu Yanchuan announced loudly.

For a moment, everyone looked shocked. Several neutral shareholders hesitated.

At this moment, a female shareholder spoke up softly: "I only have 2.7% of the shares, but I support Chuyue. At least she dares to address the issues head-on instead of delaying and covering them up."

Then another person raised their hand.

Then came the third person, the fourth person...

Lin Zhengguo's face gradually darkened. Ultimately, a total of 52.1% of the votes supported Lin Chuyue's proposal, and Lin Zhengguo was officially "temporarily relieved" of his duties on the Strategy Committee and transferred to the Supervisory Board for evaluation.

Lin Zhengguo stood up, straightened his suit, and said in a deep voice, "You've won this superficial battle. But you've lost my trust forever."

"You lost me long ago." Lin Chuyue said, emphasizing each word.

He turned and left, his steps slow but filled with resentment.

III. Cheng Yi's Counterattack

Cheng Yi clapped slowly, sneering, "As expected, it's a father-daughter falling out, more like a business war movie. But don't be too smug. The next round of voting for the Lin Group's board of directors is only four months away. Do you think you can get away with 'exposure' all you need?"

Gu Yanchuan retorted, "President Cheng, are you scared? Scared that we'll really ask the China Securities Regulatory Commission to audit our accounts?"

"Afraid?" Cheng Yi smiled contemptuously and took out a stamped document. "I have just submitted a new proposal. CR Group will use the Vision Fund as a medium to fully invest in Lin's subsidiary. The committed amount is 2 billion."

The entire audience was once again in shock.

Lin Chuyue said coldly, "You want to use capital to force us to accept the fund? This is not investment, it's control."

Cheng Yi spread his hands: "You can refuse, then I'll invest this money in Lin Yun's newly established 'Lin's Vision' holding subsidiary. She's already registered, and all that's missing is your project authorization."

Shen Yan cursed under his breath, "They had already planned their escape route."

Luo Zhen's eyes sharpened, and he stood up, saying, "Gentlemen, we do not accept forced binding. If any funds flow into the fraudulent fund through the Lin family's channels, I will, on behalf of the Finance Committee, apply for a third-party audit and freeze the accounts."

These words won applause from some of the neutrals.

Lin Chuyue then looked at Cheng Yi, a slow smile appearing on her face: "You think this is the end? I have already applied to the China Securities Regulatory Commission for a pre-disclosure announcement, stating that Lin Yun has made significant omissions in information disclosure. If she dares to accept your funds, it will be an even more serious offense of 'undisclosed illegal fundraising'."

Cheng Yi's expression changed drastically: "You dare?"

"You just wait and see."

IV. Covert Investigation Escalates: Regulatory Visit

As the meeting concluded, two plainclothes investigators from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) stood at the door, handing letters to Lin Chuyue and Luo Zhen: "We have received a formal complaint and now require the Lin family's cooperation in investigating whether there is any financial commingling between the 'Vision Fund' and the listed company."

Cheng Yi immediately stood up: "I object! You can't investigate the entire company based on just one report—"

The investigator raised an eyebrow: "If it's inconvenient for you, you don't need to attend. We only need the legal representative to cooperate."

Gu Yanchuan asked Lin Chuyue in a low voice, "Did you arrange this?"

Lin Chuyue didn't speak, but turned to Luo Zhen and nodded: "You and Yan Yan stay upstairs and cooperate with the data retrieval. Gu Yanchuan and I will go downstairs with them."

Cheng Yi watched their departing figures from afar, a hint of ruthlessness finally appearing on his lips.

V. Epilogue: Lin Yun's Invitation

That evening, Lin Yun hosted a banquet at her private residence in the suburbs of Shanghai. Dressed in a white silk gown, she raised her champagne glass and looked at the man sitting opposite her—Shen Yan.

“I know it’s tough for you. Chu Yue is too strong, so strong that you feel pressure even standing next to her.”

Shen Yan's expression was indifferent: "You sent me here today to sow discord between us?"

Lin Yun chuckled and lowered her head: "No, I want you to see clearly—the side you're standing on will drag you into the abyss sooner or later."

Her gaze was like water, yet sharp as a knife. "If you're willing, I can keep your mother away from all investigations, and I can also let you take back the real shares of the Shen family."

Shen Yan tapped his fingers lightly on the wine glass, remaining silent for a long time.

The night wind outside rustled the curtains, its sound like a drumbeat, and the undercurrents surged once more.
