Nirvana Heiress: Reborn and Returning to Stir Up a Storm

Chapter 144 The lurking crisis

Chapter 144 The lurking crisis

When Lin Chuyue realized that Shen Fang hadn't completely given up, her intuition told her that an even bigger crisis might be on the horizon. To avoid repeating the same mistake, she began to closely monitor some unusual financial activities in the international market, while also joining forces with Li Zhanchuan to strengthen precautions.

Inside the office, Lin Chuyue and Li Zhanchuan stood side by side in front of an electronic screen, which displayed a complex chart of fund flows.

“These accounts were laundered through underground networks in Southeast Asia, making it difficult to trace the real mastermind. However, judging from the frequency of fund transfers, Shen Fang has likely already begun her next move,” Lin Chuyue said in a deep voice.

Li Zhanchuan stared at the screen, his gaze sharp: "Several of the organizations behind these accounts are channels I've worked with before. I can have someone probe them to see if we can intercept any crucial clues."

"Testing is fine, but be careful." Lin Chuyue looked up at him, her eyes filled with worry. "Shen Fang has always been ruthless, she must have a backup plan."

Li Zhanchuan nodded, his tone firm: "Don't worry, with me here, she can't cause any trouble."

That evening, after finishing her workday, Lin Chuyue drove home alone. The night was deep, the streetlights dim, and she was driving on a secluded road. Suddenly, a bright light flashed in her rearview mirror; a black car was approaching at high speed, attempting to ram her rear.

Lin Chuyue quickly calmed down, gripped the steering wheel firmly with both hands, accelerated forward, and took out her phone to dial Li Zhanchuan's number: "Zhanchuan, I might be being followed."

A calm voice came from the other end of the phone: "Don't panic, which street are you on right now?"

"On the mountain road in the southern suburbs."

"Listen to me, keep driving forward, turn left at the third fork in the road. There's a small road there that leads to a safe area. My men will come to meet you."

Following instructions, Lin Chuyue maneuvered the vehicle, successfully shaking off her pursuer in a thrilling chase. She leaned back in her seat, catching her breath, and whispered, "It looks like Shen Fang has already started making her move."

Soon, Li Zhanchuan's car came into view. He quickly got out of the car, opened the door, and looked at Lin Chuyue, saying, "Are you alright?"

"Thank goodness you reminded me in time." Lin Chuyue got out of the car, her brows furrowed slightly. "This doesn't sound like a normal warning; it's more like a threat."

A cold glint flashed in Li Zhanchuan's eyes: "It seems Shen Fang is serious this time. However, the more eager she is to make a move, the more flaws she will expose."

Meanwhile, in the conference room of the Gu Group, Gu Yanchuan was having a meeting with his team. Luo Yurou pushed open the door and handed him a document: "President Gu, this is the financial report we just received today. There are some irregularities in the flow of funds for some projects."

Gu Yanchuan took the document, flipped through a few pages, and his expression darkened slightly: "Were the funds for these projects transferred from overseas accounts?"

“Yes, and the amount is quite large, scattered across multiple small transactions, which seems to indicate that the money trail has been deliberately concealed.” Luo Yurou nodded.

Gu Yanchuan pondered for a moment and said in a low voice, "Immediately find out which institutions are involved behind these accounts, and if necessary, contact international anti-money laundering agencies to assist in the investigation."

Luo Yurou responded and left, while Gu Yanchuan's gaze lingered on the horizon outside the window, lost in thought.

"Lin Chuyue, the war between you and Shen Fang seems to be spreading to a wider area..."

In a manor far overseas, Shen Fang sat in her study, holding a document in her hand, a cold smile playing on her lips.

"Lin Chuyue, I didn't expect you to escape unscathed from 'Night Hawk'. However, this time I won't let you off so easily."

She looked up at Huo Wen and said coldly, "How are the preparations for mobilizing funds going?"

Huo Wen nodded: "As you instructed, we have transferred some funds to China. Now we just wait for the Lin family to take the bait."

Shen Fang nodded in satisfaction: "Very good. When she thinks she has the upper hand, that will be my chance to turn the tables."

Huo Wen hesitated for a moment: "President Shen, Lin Chuyue has been wary of us. Should we be more cautious?"

"Cautious?" Shen Fang sneered. "Huo Wen, you're still so cowardly. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. I won't need much time to deal with Lin Chuyue."

After saying that, she picked up her wine glass, gently swirling the red wine inside, her eyes filled with intense calculation and ruthlessness.

A few days later, Lin Chuyue and Li Zhanchuan met again in the office.

“In the past few days, I’ve found some clues. Shen Fang’s funds have been traced to certain partner institutions in China.” Lin Chuyue placed a document in front of Li Zhanchuan.

Li Zhanchuan quickly glanced through the list, raising an eyebrow slightly: "Are these organizations all her partners?"

Lin Chuyue nodded: "It's very likely a 'front.' We need to follow the clues and find the real behind-the-scenes dealers."

Li Zhanchuan closed the document, his tone firm: "This time, we must strike decisively and completely deprive her of any chance to turn the tables."

Lin Chuyue smiled gently: "That's exactly what I was thinking. However, to make Shen Fang completely expose her true colors, we still need a carefully planned 'luring the snake out of its hole'."

Li Zhanchuan's eyes lit up slightly: "Tell me your plan."

Lin Chuyue's gaze was calm yet sharp: "Since she likes to strategize, then we'll play a good game with her."
