Chapter 240 Exchange Conditions
Chapter 240 Exchange Conditions
"Is there any correspondence?" Shen Li asked again.
"Yes, they're on Master." Mingyue didn't care about anything else and pulled out several letters from the Holy Son's clothes.
By the light of the candle inside the cave, Shen Li saw that it was indeed Zhou Zhen's handwriting, with his personal seal on it, promising that if the matter was accomplished, he would grant the Honglian Sect a large amount of gold, silver and grain in ten prefectures.
"Very good." Shen Li kept these letters on her person. This time, not only the Zhou family, but Li Heng would also suffer a great misfortune.
Her trip was definitely worthwhile.
"If you're lying to me, I will never let you get away with it." Mingyue looked at Shen Li's reaction.
"Don't worry, I'm a disciple of a legendary doctor. Crush this medicine and apply it externally, and crush this one and administer it orally." Shen Li divided the herbs into two categories.
Although she had never studied medicine, she had been drawing herbs and compiling medical books and pharmacopoeias for Old Man Zou. She had a good memory and could remember what herbs looked like and what their effects were.
Moreover, Old Man Zou had been fighting in the army for many years and had great insight into treating wounds in the wild. He had saved countless lives, and he compiled these prescriptions into a book without reservation.
Needless to say, this must be a classic book that will be passed down through generations. She plans to make a copy and record it in the royal archives so that it will not be lost to future generations.
"You're bragging again. There aren't many people in the world who dare to call themselves a miracle doctor." Although Mingyue did as she was told, she really didn't believe Shen Li's words.
"You really should serve me like a slave and broaden your horizons." Shen Li's words were more of a joke.
“You’ve seen plenty of lowly guards like yourself, but you’re not exactly respectable,” Mingyue retorted, unconvinced.
Shen Li smiled, leaned against the stone wall, and prepared to sleep.
She was overjoyed to receive these letters.

The Taoist temple burned down for half the night, and the local government didn't arrive until dawn. They removed hundreds of corpses and characterized the fight as an internal conflict within the Red Lotus Sect. However, it was unknown whether the assassins were among them.
But since Shen Li was not found, the investigation had to continue.
The government officials then began searching the mountains, with teams of several dozen men searching separately. If any team failed to return, all the soldiers would gather around that team.
While the search was underway, another team arrived at the ruins of the Taoist temple. It was Shadow who led a secret guard raised by the Gu family.
"The master said that since the lady has been here, she must have left clues. Search carefully." Shadow looked at the burnt ruins in front of him.
The front and back halls of the courtyard had all collapsed, and the ground was covered with charred charcoal. Even after a night, the air was still thick with the smell of blood. The only thing that remained was the stone statue placed on the stone platform.
"This? I'm afraid it would be burned to a crisp even if we left it." One of the guards was also at a loss as he faced the ruins.
They didn't even know where to begin.
"No, the master said there definitely is, and told us to look carefully." As Shadow spoke, he walked towards the Daoist statue. When he got closer, his pupils shrank. He found that the statue was not upright but crooked.
Who can move this stone statue that weighs several hundred kilograms?
He immediately perked up and carefully searched for marks on the stone statue. Finally, he found small characters carved with a sharp tool in a place behind the statue that had been covered by charred wood.
"Here, it is indeed the master who understands the lady best." Shadow was overjoyed after seeing the contents. He immediately used ink to make a rubbing of the words and, as instructed, scraped them clean.
That's wonderful! The lady is alright. The master will be so happy to know.

Inside the cave, the only man guarding the Holy Son was named Fang Bo. He had already left the cave and blocked the narrow entrance with stones, planting some flowers and plants at the entrance to conceal his presence.
He himself hid outside alone, waiting for the soldiers to come up the mountain so that he would lead them to other paths and make them not notice this place.
The cave was somewhat blocked, so there wasn't enough air in it. They had to extinguish the torches and work in the dark.
The two maids' injuries were treated with medicine and they took oral medication. After half a night of recuperation, they recovered some of their strength. Only the holy son, who was severely overexerted, had not yet woken up.
Shen Li and the others had already left the cave before dawn to relieve themselves. They could now stay in the cave for about half a day, but they needed to drink less water.
"Eat up." Shen Li shared some of her pancakes with them.
Although these two maids had bad tempers, they were loyal servants who hated corrupt officials and sympathized with the common people. They seemed like good people, and she couldn't bear to see them go hungry.
The two accepted the gift and thanked her, looking somewhat ashamed, but Shen Li couldn't see it.
Chaoyang was a bit smarter. She said while eating, "Sir, you seem to have been helping us the whole way. You're not waiting for the antidote, are you?"
If it weren't for her reminder, even if the Holy Son had reacted in time, he would probably have been injured, and things would not be like they are now.
After thinking it over carefully, she felt that Shen Li still had ulterior motives, and that she had other plans besides finding out about the spies in the court.
"Smart." Shen Li affirmed, and said very frankly, "I don't want much, I just want your Holy Son."
"..." Two maids.
They guessed that Shen Li had something in mind, but they didn't expect it to be this. Did she have some kind of audacity?
And isn't she already married? Does she want her own holy son to be her mistress? This is utterly outrageous!
"Cough cough cough..." A man's cough suddenly came from inside the cave.
"Master!" The two maids exclaimed excitedly, "Our master has woken up!"
Shen Li blinked. She's awake? Did she hear what she just said?
She hasn't finished speaking yet.
After waking up and drinking some water, the Holy Son, having ascertained his situation, turned to Shen Li and asked, "What... exactly do you want to do?"
"Does Your Majesty think there is any way out of this predicament?" Shen Li asked in return.
Silence fell over the cave.
At the same time, they heard footsteps outside the cave and held their breath even more intently.
“There’s no sign of human life in this desolate wilderness. I think everything was burned to ashes in that fire.”
"You can't say that. I heard that a large force will be arriving in our area tomorrow, and they're going to send three groups of people to search the mountains. They'll keep searching until they find it."
"You mean the Red Lotus Cult members ran away, but they had to take a hostage. As long as Lord Shen can't be found, this case won't be closed."
"Who says otherwise? How did this chore fall to us? Hey? What's this?"
The sounds outside grew louder as they approached; anyone with martial arts training could hear them clearly – someone was getting closer to the cave entrance.
The men breathed even more lightly, afraid of alerting those outside. Dealing with a dozen or so people was easy, but if they couldn't get back, they would be met with a large, large force.
"Don't look over there, there's movement over here. I think I see a figure. Chase after them." A voice came from afar.
Soon the footsteps at the cave entrance faded into the distance, gradually disappearing from the hilltop.
The group breathed a sigh of relief.
The holy son looked in Shen Li's direction: "Tell me, how can we find a way to survive?"
