Chapter 547 - 234: Cut Down on Unhealthy Content

The young woman blushed, stood up, and left, carrying her prescription straight to the pharmacy counter.

The next few patients were relatively healthy and had no major issues. Lu Xuan originally didn’t plan to prescribe medicine for them since "medicine, after all, has some toxicity."

Moreover, once a person is born and consumes various grains, it’s impossible not to get sick.

Not to mention ordinary people, even some highly skilled veteran traditional Chinese doctors dare not claim that their bodies are perfectly healthy or without any ailments.

That’s simply impossible.

There are always some issues in life, more or less.

As long as the issues are not severe, maintaining a good lifestyle means medication is not crucial.

However, these individuals strongly insisted that Lu Xuan prescribe some medicine for adjustment, so Lu Xuan had no choice but to comply.

It wasn’t for curing illness, just purely for body adjustment.

Furthermore, when these individuals went to get their prescriptions, Lu Xuan especially reminded them.

Take the medicine on time, and even if you feel better afterward, don’t go off buying and taking medicine randomly on your own; too much of a good thing can be bad.

A healthy person’s body has achieved a balance of Yin and Yang; taking medicine indiscriminately not only doesn’t benefit the body but can disrupt the balance of Yin and Yang, causing illness.

The individuals had just listened to Lu Xuan’s explanation, naturally understanding that he wasn’t trying to scare them, and nodded in agreement.

Lu Xuan smiled and nodded back at them. When the next patient approached, he turned his head to glance at the person before frowning slightly, "Let me take your pulse first."

The young man who stepped forward hesitated, unsure of what to say, but upon hearing Lu Xuan say he would take his pulse, he quickly extended his arm.

Lu Xuan lowered his head and placed his hand on the young man’s pulse points.

The young man was a bit nervous. During the pulse-taking, as a patient, he should have described his condition, but he didn’t know how to begin.

Moreover, with people both in front and behind—healthcare staff and other patients standing behind him—he couldn’t muster the courage to speak, so he kept his head down and said nothing.

Ji Xiuwen gave the young man a peculiar look, intending to remind him, but seeing him with his head down, Ji Xiuwen held back the words he was about to say.

Having practiced traditional Chinese medicine for decades, Zhang Guangli might not boast better skills than Lu Xuan, but he certainly had a wealth of experience in human interaction. Watching the young man fidget, Zhang guessed the young man had a private condition he couldn’t or wouldn’t talk about. Seeing Ji Xiuwen ready to prompt him, Zhang gestured for silence.

Ji Xiuwen wasn’t foolish; he immediately understood the situation.

By this time, Lu Xuan had confirmed his suspicion and said with mild annoyance, "You must be in your late twenties?"

"Yes." The young man nodded lightly.

Lu Xuan said helplessly, "Try not to watch those unhealthy videos, avoid short clips and so on, understand?"

The young man finally got the hint, and his already slightly pale face flushed slightly with red due to both embarrassment and surprise.

He was left wondering: Is traditional Chinese medicine this incredible?

He hadn’t said anything, yet merely by taking his pulse, Lu Xuan knew his lifestyle habits?

It seemed too miraculous to be true, didn’t it?

Chen Luhui looked at Lu Xuan with disbelief, his eyes filled with skepticism.

If his mother hadn’t insisted he come today to Huian Pharmacy to see Dr. Lu, he wouldn’t have come. To him, traditional Chinese medicine wasn’t scientific. Even assuming some old traditional Chinese doctors were skilled, diagnosing merely through pulse-taking seemed implausible.

Yet, Lu Xuan’s words just shattered his understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.

Knowing so much just from pulse-taking alone seemed impossible to Chen Luhui.

Knowing the condition is one thing, but understanding so clearly even about lifestyle habits—it’s beyond mysterious; it’s downright magical.

It was terrifying.

Chen Luhui swallowed hard, unsure of what to say, momentarily forgetting the crowd listening behind him, and feeling no embarrassment, utterly captivated by Lu Xuan’s words.

"Surprised?"

Seeing Chen Luhui silent, Lu Xuan asked casually.

"Yes, yes." Chen Luhui nodded his head like a chicken pecking at rice, his nods quick and vigorous.

Lu Xuan hadn’t intended to elaborate further, but seeing Chen Luhui so curious, and especially with that astonished expression, he decided to explain briefly: "Pulse diagnosis is the most mysterious, profound, and mystical; also the hardest to master art in traditional Chinese medicine. A student can learn many aspects of TCM under a master, but pulse diagnosis must be personally experienced with careful observation and practice over time to understand deeply.

This is why, when it comes to pulse-taking, there’s a saying: ’This contains true meaning, words fail to describe it.’

Traditional Chinese medicine’s pulse diagnosis reveals a person’s illness. The pulse taken is the lung circulation pulse, also known as the small circulation pulse.

It’s also called ’only take the Cunkou,’ referring to the wrist’s high bone as the Guan. One Cun before Guan is nine Fen, after Guan to the elbow is one Chi. One Chi behind Guan is one Cun, diagnosing this area of one Cun nine Fen, the index finger takes Cun, the middle finger takes Guan, the ring finger takes Chi. This is Cun, Guan, and Chi and requires three positions, nine indicators, fifty movements; if the pulse exceeds fifty beats without stopping, there’s no major disease in the body.

Three positions refer to Cun, Guan, and Chi. Nine indicators are the three fingers, floating, middle, and sinking, three times three make nine, if the pulse exceeds fifty beats without stopping, the body isn’t suffering from major disease.
