Chapter 844 238: Return and the Everyday
Chapter 844 238: Return and the Everyday
In the memory-simulated scene, a biting icy wind howled past, winter snowflakes fluttered down thick and fast, and the whole world was blanketed in a layer of pristine white velvet.
Gradually, it covered the forest in the simulated memory scene.
"The Gods are literally in my hands right now? The hell?" Ian stood in the silver-clad snowfield, the snow under his feet crunching with every step.
His gaze was locked on Merlin, brows slightly furrowed, clearly confused by what he had just heard.
"Of course I mean it literally." Merlin was also standing in the snowy field of the memory. His eyes fell on the Elder Wand Ian was toying with in his hand.
"The authority of the Gods is contained within this Magic Wand." Merlin's voice echoed in the cold air, and there was a complex look in his eyes.
Hearing this, Ian's eyes widened at once, his face full of shock. Combining it with the scene he had just witnessed, he instantly grasped what Merlin meant.
"So the reason Raven stuffed himself was that Raven ate the Gods filling the whole sky?" It had to be said, this was pretty damn horrifying, no less explosive than the secrets about Merlin just now.
Merlin sighed helplessly, a hint of reminiscence crossing his face. "I don't really know either. When I was just a little Wizard, I was only exploring the world of Magic in my own way. By the time I was finally qualified to delve into the mysteries of the Gods, their traces had already vanished without a trace. All I found were some remnants they left behind."
As for this mystery of the Gods' disappearance, I'm afraid no one in the Human World can solve it. Perhaps you really did do something unknown to anyone." Merlin's gaze turned to the distance.
As if he were looking toward those faraway days of the past.
Ian was lost in thought.
His wording differed slightly from Merlin's; probably because of his desire to hold on to a sense of being a complete self, he didn't like lumping Raven and his own identity together.
"Raven must have had a reason for doing this, right?" Ian kept feeling there was some shocking secret hidden behind all this, but intuition alone couldn't lead him to understand those unknown causes.
"That I don't know."
Faced with Ian's question, Merlin only shrugged, his tone helpless. "Maybe you could ask your valued Apprentice Morgan for help? She's been chasing after the secrets about you all this time."
That much was obvious.
After Ian left that era, Merlin and Morgan clearly had plenty of interaction, so when this Great Mage mentioned Morgan, there was a trace of grievance in his tone.
Not the kind of grievance from a failed romance, though.
"Huh?"
Hearing the name "Morgan," Ian's expression changed at once. He hurriedly waved his hands and corrected him, "Teacher, Morgan is my teacher! Don't say it like that!"
"Don't you dare try to get me killed!" The Little Wizard's eyes were extremely wary. Of course he had to be on guard—Bad Woman's mind was very bad indeed. For all he knew, she might be peeping into the Human World right this second.
"That's not the Raven I know."
Merlin's tone was teasing.
"My name is Ian Prince."
Ian corrected the form of address from Merlin that made him feel uncomfortable.
Merlin didn't argue.
And just then, the Little Wizard raised his Magic Wand again. He was thinking of last year, when he first set foot in Diagon Alley and bought his Magic Wand at Ollivander's Wand Shop.
"I still remember, when I bought this Magic Wand, Mr. Olivander said my Wand Core was Unicorn feather." No Little Wizard could ever forget the moment they purchased their Magic Wand.
False advertising.
He knew it—Mr. Olivander was a damn profiteer! And just as Ian was wondering if he could keep the Magic Wand and still go find Mr. Olivander to say, "Fuck you, give me a refund,"—
"You only heard that; it wasn't the truth. Mr. Olivander thought he was using Unicorn feather, but in reality, I just sold him Raven feathers disguised as Unicorn feathers."
"Confusing cognition is my specialty." Whether it was because Merlin was currently using the identity of Olivander's descendant or out of a sudden pang of conscience, he still took the trouble to clear Mr. Olivander's name a bit.
This instantly left the Little Wizard with no grounds whatsoever to go ask for a refund.
"I don't think you can just confuse reality, can you?" Ian didn't actually care that much about eight Golden Galleons. Thinking of his perception of Arthur King and Ririm, his expression turned suspicious.
"Once you can confuse reality, that also means you can alter reality…" Merlin's expression didn't change as he simply raised his hand to show Ian the ring on his finger.
"It enhances my power in that regard."
He didn't hide anything.
Merlin was quite frank.
"The power of the Nightmare Bloodline?" Ian asked curiously. He'd heard many legends about Merlin, the most famous being that Merlin was half Nightmare.
As for the Little Wizard's question—
Merlin merely smiled without speaking, which was as good as tacitly admitting it.
"So, my Magic Wand really is made with Raven feather, right." Ian turned the Magic Wand that was connected to his mind, still finding this fact rather surreal.
"That's right. I thought it was a fun joke, don't you? The feather of the most insidious bastard in the world actually being called Unicorn feather."
Merlin nodded, a hint of pride in his expression, as if convinced his sense of humor was top-notch. "You should've realized long ago how naturally your Magic Wand handles the Dark Arts."
There was a teasing note in his voice.
